Worth Riding 100 km to Dine At

"We made this restaurant our destination after 100 km biking across the Island. It certainly did not disappoint. The burger was one of the best we’ve ever tasted and the raspberry soup and woodfired pizza were out of this world. Combine that with idyllic views and endless bottles of delicious Valley View cider and  you’re in heaven."

July 19th, guest from Vancouver - Trip Advisor

"We live in a special part of the world. The Cowichan Valley is a cultural enclave with a personality all its own, even on Vancouver Island. When cyclists ride the Trail through the Valley, I think what they experience here makes them feel, well, 'special'. Each year, as I ride the Trail so often, I meet more and more cyclists, especially with the opening of the connector to the Galloping Goose in Victoria, who ask me: "Where am I?" “Which things should I see on this ride?” and most often, "Where can I stop for something good to eat?  Your restaurant is a quintessential Cowichan Valley eating experience, Katy. So when the hungry cyclists I meet on the Trail ask me about food, I'm lucky your Café is close at hand. They can ride to it is easily, the food is great and it will be a unique Cowichan Valley experience they can tell their friends about.”

Familes can start at Glenora Trails Head Park and cycle the fabulous Trans-Canada Trail. Ride to the Glenora Store at the Indian Road / Glenora Road corner, there are different ways to get there, and then cycle East along Glenora Road for a kilometer to the Café.

Or, meet up with your friends in Duncan; the farm is an easy four kilometers from the Cowichan River Bridge over the Trans-Canada Highway. Again, there are different routes you can take; the Café is 2.5 km West from the corner at Koksilah Road and Miller / Glenora Road.

Best to plan your route, especially if there are hungry kids in the group. Whichever route you take you know there will be delicious food awaiting! Ride safely!

Trip Advisor Reviews from Cyclists

 Wow!

We stopped at Alderlea Farm Café after a morning bike ride from Glenora Trail Head Park to Kinsol Trestle. It was the perfect spot to end our outing. I ordered the spinach quiche with a green salad--both of which tasted amazing. The ambience is lovely, especially sitting on the porch overlooking the valley. The service was very friendly and efficient (we were a group of 20 and they accommodated us very nicely).

  Biked for lunch

We rode our bikes from the Kinsol Trestle to the farm. It was an hour's ride. We made a reservation to make sure we sat outside but it wasn't necessary. Most of us had the soup, salad and bread combo. Very fresh and homemade. The burgers were also good too. Not too big. Very picturesque scenery.

 Fabulous Farm to Table food

Stopped by for lunch today on our bike ride. Great farm setting. Food all home made, farm to table. A definite winner. Well worth the effort as it is off on a side road.
